Evaluating the MARC records What is in the 001 tag --access number for OCLC, vendor #? Are there LC call numbers in the records? Are the GMDs included in title fields? Check for 830/710/740 fields to be able to search for the collection set in the public catalog 856 field Did the vendor provide edits to records for proxy information? What is in the $z field? How many 856 fields are there?

System loader functionality Know how and what data your system loader loads How does your loader handle the 001 field? Do you have LC call number indexed or not?
