Socioeconomic Status Index Wealth is determined by scoring households based on a set of characteristics, including access to electricity and ownership of various consumer goods. Households are then ranked, from lowest score to highest score. This list is then separated into 5 equal pieces (or quintiles) each representing 20% of the population. Therefore, those in the highest quintile may not be “rich” but they are of higher socioeconomic status than 80% of the country. 2010 CDHS

Health Insurance 89% of Cambodian women and 92% of Cambodian men have no health insurance. Health equity funds are the most common type of insurance (9% of women and 6% of men) 2010 CDHS

Key Findings 59% of households have access to safe water 31% of households have electricity One-third of households have an improved sanitation facility Cambodian women and men are more educated than they were in 2005. About 74% of women and 83% of men are literate. One-third of women have no access to mass media. 70% of women and 81% of men are currently employed; most work in agriculture. About 90% of respondents have no health insurance. 7% of women and 35% of men use some sort of tobacco. 2010 CDHS
