Childhood Harriet was born in1820 in Maryland As a child She was hit on the head with a two pound wait She never went to school Harriet didn’t have a education growing Harriet started working at the age of 5 or 6 She was born a slave

Adult life Harriet became part of the under ground rail road Harriet went to Philadelphia and became free Harriet helped the civil war solders She almost lost her house because she couldn’t pay for the bills Sarah helped Harriet Harriet was a cook, nurse and scout

Later years Harriet always came back to Maryland to help other slaves. In 1857 Harriet brought her parents to freedom it was hard because Harriet’s parents were to old to walk that far so this was the hardest escape journey Harriet did. Harriet had to travel from house to house sometimes she worried about going to the wrong house but she never did.

Interesting facts Harriet got a medal from queen Victoria Harriet freed 300 slaves she said she could’ve freed a thousand more if she knew they were slaves The trip was not easy Harriet hid in swamps, wagons and secret rooms They had to make no noise and they didn’t get that much food during the trip and they had to walk for 4 hours
