IR + present participle Present tense conjugation of IR replaces ESTAR. voy, vas, va, vamos, van +(-ando/-iendo) * Still describes an action in progress (that is happening now), but using IR gives sentence connotation that the action is happening: “slowly, but surely”.
ANDAR + present participle Present tense conjugation of ANDAR replaces ESTAR. ando, andas, anda, andamos, andan +(-ando/-iendo) * Still describes an action in progress (that is happening now), but using ANDAR gives sentence connotation that person is: “going around” doing that action.
SEGUIR + present participle Present tense conjugation of SEGUIR replaces ESTAR. sigo, sigues, sigue, seguimos, siguen +(-ando/-iendo) * Still describes an action in progress (that is happening now), but using SEGUIR gives sentence connotation that person is: “still in the process” of doing that action.
Ejemplos Voy corriendo en la playa. (I am running on the beach, slowly but surely.) Ando corriendo en la playa. (I am going all over running on the beach.) Sigo corriendo en la playa. (I am still running on the beach.)
