Middle school requirements What you need to get to high school

Core classes You need 4 core classes each year of Middle School. The core classes are: Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies (World History, US History, Civics) You will have 3 elective classes UNLESS you need credit recovery for a core class or intensive math/reading. If you score a level 1 or 2 on the FSA you will be in intensive math or reading the next year. If you fail a core class, you will need to recover the credit for that course in order to move on to High School. Credit Recovery is sometimes completed in Summer School.

Point system & Grades You must pass each core class every year of Middle School. You may pass based on your average OR in some classes the point system is utilized. You get to keep the higher grade for the year. The point system does NOT apply to all courses. For example, for courses with an EOC (such as Civics) there is a different formula for your grade.
