2 What you need to know to graduate!!

3 Units of Credit You must earn 23 units of credit to graduate.
You earn units of credit by receiving a passing grade in your classes. However, you must earn units of credit in specific areas too. In order to be promoted to 10th, 11th and 12th grade you must have the following number of units of credit at the end of each year: Promotion to 10th—5 credits Promotion to 11th—11 credits Promotion to 12th—17 credits In high school, with our seven period schedule you will have the opportunity to earn a maximum of 28 credits.

4 Your Plan of Study You must earn a certain number of credits in certain courses in order to graduate. Math—4 credits English—4 credits Science—4 credits Social Studies—3 credits Health/PE—1 credit CTAE/Fine Arts/World Language—3 credits Electives (any area)-4 credits If you intend to go to a college or university you must have 2 consecutive units of credit in a World Language. Provided you pass all classes, you could end up with 28 credits.

5 Activity: You will become familiar with your transcript and work through the graduation checklist. You will look at your transcript and record your grades and EOC scores on the graduation checklist. You will get some ideas for what classes you might want to take next year..

6 Materials You will be given:
Graduation Requirement Checklist Transcript We will work through the Graduation Checklist together. Please do not work ahead.

7 Transcript You will see the name of the course, your grade from that course the weight of the credit and then the credit awarded for the course. Please note it will not have your current “in progress” courses listed on the transcript.

9 English-Language Arts

10 Transfer Student on Block
Students who have been on Block at another school earn 1 credit per semester for courses taken. Record the grade in both slots for Part A and Part B.

11 Math

12 Science

13 Social Studies

14 Health and Personal Fitness
These courses are required for all students. Health/PE—regardless of how you feel about PE and Health you must take and pass this class in order to graduate. This is a requirement for all students, No health/PE=No Diploma!!!

15 About Electives: Some examples of CTAE/Fine Art courses:
You must earn at least 3 credits in elective courses that meet the CTAE/Fine Arts/World Language designation. Some examples of CTAE/Fine Art courses: Fine Art: Art, Band, Chorus CTAE: Agriculture, Business, College and Career Academy, and Manufacturing (12 for Life)

16 Electives The last row is reserved for elective credits that do not meet the CTAE/Fine Arts/World Language designation. In the blanks provided write the name of the elective course you are currently taking (if any) Examples: Math Support, AP Psych, Weight Lifting, Team Sports and any other course that has not been previously listed will go here. ** If you have satisfied the CTAE/Fine Arts/World Language designation additional courses can be listed as electives.

17 GHSWT and EOC Scores Use your transcript to list EOC scores.
This can be found under “Standard Tests” on your transcript.

18 Credit Recovery In order to graduate on time, students who fail a required course will have to recover the credit by taking: the teacher led course again in their schedule (not always an option) the equivalent online course in their schedule the equivalent course in summer school Edgenuity – a research-based video course curriculum, which offers semester-equivalent core and elective online courses for students to recover credits. Summer School – offered by Carroll County Schools on the GOAL campus. Expenses associated with summer school include registration and course fees. Limited courses are offered in June and July.

19 Finished: Please make sure your name and student ID number is on your graduation requirement checklist. Your completed checklist is your ticket out the door.
