The Research Project module (LI5001) is an 8MC module which is offered in both Semester 1 and Semester 2 but not in the Special Term. Students must form a team of 3 to work on a real-world industry project, which can be sourced by students or by TLI-AP upon request. This research project module should normally be undertaken over one semester. Part-time students may choose to complete the project over two consecutive semesters. Students should plan ahead to ensure the successful project sourcing and module registration of LI5001. Please read the guidelines below carefully and prepare all the paper work properly before project sourcing and module registration.

Guidelines for LI5001: Three (3) students form a team and find a project Students are encouraged to find their own projects (e.g., work on their company's project). However, students without a company project may request TLI-AP for a project by submitting the Project Request Form (deadline: three (3) months before term starts). You should form your own team (of three per team) first and then submit the project request as a team. Late requests will not be accepted. TLI–AP, in consultation with Joint Academic Committee, will assign a supervising professor from Department of Industrial System Engineering & Management or Department of Analytics & Operations. Students are encouraged to start on their project as soon as possible. Preparatory work can start even before registration for the module Students submit completed Project Proposal and Agreement Form (signed by students, company mentor and NUS supervisor) to TLI-AP at least one week before module registration. Late submission will not be accepted. After receiving the completed Project Proposal and Agreement Form, TLI-AP will coordinate the module registration for students. Students must take note of all the important dates (submission deadlines) and specifications and format of the final project report to ensure proper progress of the research project module.
