Overview of the Curriculum Numeracy and Literacy are core subjects and taught in a structured way every morning across the week. Both are divided in to smaller areas and are delivered in a variety of ways.

Numeracy Numeracy groups are organised into four groups across the year. Formal written methods are taught for the 4 calculations, including the grid method for multiplication and division by chunking. Calculator use is also developed further in Year 5 to support problem solving and trial and improvement methods

Assessment of Reading Your child will be assessed within the first few weeks of term on word finding and their levels of comprehension. This will determine their reading age and inform how reading support is organised within the classroom.

ICT is incorporated into our learning in a variety of ways – use of laptops within the classroom, windows movie maker, their own power point presentations, use of digital microscopes in Science.
