The Elements of Art Style: The special way an artist uses elements and principles to organize a work. Color Line Texture Shape Form Space Value

The Elements of Art Style: The special way an artist uses elements and principles to organize a work. Properties of Color- Hue - Name of the color in relationship to its location on the color wheel. Intensity – quality of brightness and purity Value – hues lightness and darkness, adds a visual 3-d effect.

Primary Colors – Pure colors (yellow, red, blue) The Elements of Art Style: The special way an artist uses elements and principles to organize a work. Properties of Color- Primary Colors – Pure colors (yellow, red, blue) Secondary Colors – the mixing of two primary colors (orange, green, violet) Intermediate Colors – the mixing of a primary and a secondary color. (blue-green, orange-yellow)

Complimentary Colors – Opposite on the color wheel. The Elements of Art Style: The special way an artist uses elements and principles to organize a work. Properties of Color- Complimentary Colors – Opposite on the color wheel. Analogous Colors – next to each other on the color wheel. Cool Colors – blues, greens (sky, water) Warm Colors – red, yellow (fire, sun)

                                                                   Project:  Produce a highly inventive color-wheel.  The color wheel will be used as a study guide, which we will refer to repeatedly throughout the course of the year.  Be sure to incorporate a wide variety of tints into your wheel..
