Beatrix Potter School PTA Annual General Meeting October 11th 2018 Treasurer’s Update Renata Kostrzewa

Treasurer’s Highlights 2017/2018 In total £34k raised with fundraising events bringing £20k. Main contributor for the year was Sponsorship which includes Employer Matched Donations: £3.2k Small Businesses Sponsorship for the Fete: £2.3k Recurring Donations via Voluntary Contribution Scheme of £1.8k Carter Jonas – additional £3.3k donation via BP House Fee Scheme on top of fixed sponsorship of £3k per annum. Increased school funding and expenditure by 43% compared to prior year via purchase of Google Chrome Books, VR Sets, table tennis and picnic tables for the outside. Y6 Tuck Shop’s profit fully covered BP Leaver’s hoodies Added option of Card Payments (contactless & pin) via iZettle.

PTA School Funding

PTA Charity Financial Review BP PTA is a registered charity with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (Charity Number: 289615) An annual review of PTA accounts is performed via Independent examiner Independent Examiner’s report on the accounts as well as Report of the Trustees are filed with the Charity Commission each year. Financial Review from past few years highlighted expectations for the PTA to materially increase spending over the coming few years.

Projects under way… Outdoor areas reconstruction and modernization Redevelopment of the old climbing frame area (by Magdalen Rd) into a space usable for outside learning. Estimate cost of £20k. Additional sports and IT equipment (estimated cost of £10k.) BP use of the Openview playing fields Research on prior agreements with the Council regarding BP School right to use Openview Playing fields. Negotiations of formal agreement with ADT

Voluntary Contribution Scheme To raise funds to enrich the children of Beatrix Potters School’s life and providing activities which are otherwise outside the curriculum. Run by School Governors Administered by treasurer. Donors and amounts are confidential and not known to anyone other than treasurer. Charity Giving – GIFT AID If the donor pays UK tax, then a signing a gift aid form allows the PTA to claim an additional 25% from HMRC. A higher rate taxpayer can put this on their annual tax return form to obtain additional tax relief Gif Aid SD for small cash donations as long as nothing is received in return Allows gift aid style reclaim of 25% on up to £5,000 BP PTA Charity Number: 289615

Employer Matched Funding Charitable giving scheme available to employees of large organisations eg Barclays, Morgan Stanley, Citi, Unilever, Deutsche Bank Match money raised for charity eg running marathon, offer time Volunteer days – work in the school, give time eg plant flowers, painting, playground construction Does anyone work for a large organisation?
