Changes for 2017-2018 School Year Dual Enrollment Changes for 2017-2018 School Year Our goal is to continue offering many of the same courses next year Adjustments had to be made to meet the VCCS financial policy Parents of prospective DE students will be notified of the tuition changes for 2017-2018 prior to course registration Financial aid options are available from a variety of outside sources Sciences may be eliminated Letters will be available in February at the DE/AP Information night on Feb. 28th SEF, private PDCCC scholarship options

Changes for 2017-2018 School Year Dual Enrollment Changes for 2017-2018 School Year Courses will be capped for enrollment to minimize cost (about 30 per course) Students pursuing the certificate and degree plan options will receive preference SPS student fees for the DE courses will increase from $100 per course to $300 per course to offset costs Despite the fee increase, the savings to students will still be significant (between $593 -$887 per course) Courses will be capped to control enrollment and costs Students who are actively pursuing the degree or certificate plan will have preferential enrollment to help them meet the PDCCC requirements while in HS Once all those students have enrolled, we will open the courses on a first come-first serve basis TCC has funded much of their dual enrollment expansion through grant funds

This year we saw the greatest increase as students were more aware of the significant discount in the course costs. We will cap student enrollment to manage funding and student enrollment may decrease with increase in cost.

Dual Enrollment 2017-2018 School Year With the adjusted program, SPS will incur a direct cost of $67,682 in tuition and fees (not including indirect costs and textbooks) SPS will continue to provide textbooks for all students SPS will examine other options for the dual enrollment program in the future Students will continue to have access to comparable AP courses at each building (AP Biology and AP Chemistry) SPS currently incurs a cost for the teachers that we have from PDCCC. We are currently paying a discounted rate for student tuition ($40 per credit hour vs. $148 per credit hour). This amount will increase next year. We also pay 2 teachers for an additional course load (6th class). We will move to a 70% reimbursement model for courses taught by our instructors. We will subsidize the cost of the courses taught by PDCCC instructors with the fees charged to students. AP courses can always be transferred back to PDCCC to be used towards an associate degree or certificate program
