The Response from NCA&TSU NCA&TSU currently has more than 300 active research and community development projects operating throughout the community we serve. Advanced Materials & Nanotechnology Computational Science & Engineering Information Sciences & Technology Energy & Environment Logistics & Transportation Biotechnology & Bio Science Public Health Leadership & Community Development The universitys primary vehicle for implementation of public service activities as well as community and economic development is the Division of Research and Economic Development (DORED).

Results 2006 – 51 Low-to-Moderate Income Families received up to $3,000 down payment assistance 2006 At least 42 previously unemployed Greensboro residents obtain FT employment through various partnerships Construction of a 2,200 square foot Community Center to reestablish displaced business after Hurricane Floyd Four Telecommunication Facilities placed in underserved communities and over 700 residents served Twenty-three young adults earned their GED and were placed in full-time employment or pursued post-secondary education degrees Real Property donated to NCA&TSU for community development in Southeast Greensboro Improved living conditions for more than 50 people though home repair To date over 3,500 LMI families in Southeast Greensboro have been empowered through vocational programs, education and housing initiatives, parenting programs, business development and job placement assistance

The Future Increase the number of minority sub-contractors and skilled laborers through vocational skills and business development programs Assist in the renovation of a transitional living facility for homeless high school students Development of LMI housing in the target area Increase the number of businesses in the BEST Incubator from 5 to 11 minority owned business Diversify funding sources
