3 MCCWDTA – Dual Goals  Structural, systemic change: ◦ Redesign programs and services to accelerate attainment of certificates, degrees and employment for low-skilled, un- and under- employed MA residents  Student attainment and jobs: ◦ Enroll and track the progress of students through certificate/degree attainment & jobs

4 Proposal Overview  Budget FUNDED is $20,000,000 over three years to support capacity-building, systemic changes  Target population are unemployed and underemployed adult workers  Goal is to enroll 4,000 students and place 2,800 in employment over three years (state-wide)  15 colleges committed to statewide project with local implementation

5 Project Priorities Priority #1: Accelerate progress for low- skilled and other workers. Priority #3: Build programs that meet industry needs, including developing career pathways. Priority #2: Improve retention and achievement rates and/or reduce time to completion of industry recognized credentials, certificates and degrees. Priority #4: Strengthen online and technology-enabled learning.

8 Career Contextualized Curriculum Address ABE and development education needs. Modules for healthcare, IT and advanced manufacturing (more to come). Currently being piloted

16 Act as bridge between Holyoke Community College (HCC) and CareerPoint (CP) Presence at HCC and CP At CP – service to those looking for training – referrals – assistance with college applications and navigation – outreach for HCC College & Career Navigator

17 At HCC – Navigation for incoming client students – advising for program students & ESL Level I – problem solving for client students College & Career Navigator

18 Community Focus Present information at area Community Based Organizations (CBOs) regarding HCC Programs Provide on-going communications with area partners Serve as Liaison between the CBOs and HCC
