Navigating CCP Student’s Privacy What am I allowed to share about my student? Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) A person participating in the College Credit Plus is considered as any other college student. Communication to Sinclair Instructors and Staff has to come from the student. Access to the student’s Sinclair records by parents or guardians is only permitted when a written release of information is signed by the student. FERPA stands for the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. This protects all students who are registered for courses and their personal information. Once your student registers, they will be protected by FERPA. That means that we will not be able to release any personal information to you as a parent. That includes grades, schedule and other personal information items. Any communication to Sinclair instructors or staff will need to come from the student and not you as the parent. Instructors will not speak to you as the parent about the student. Students can complete a FERPA release form with the Registration and Records office.
