Harassment is when someone behaves in a way which makes you feel distressed, humiliated or threatened. It could be someone you know, like a neighbour or people from you local area or it could be a stranger – for example, someone on the bus. Examples of harassment include: unwanted phone calls, letters, emails or visits. unwanted touching stalking verbal abuse and threats smashing windows or using dogs to frighten you Harassment is both a criminal offence and a civil action under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997. www.citizensadvice.org.uk The teacher in the initial trail of the materials asked if ‘unwanted touching’ could be added in to the C.A. definition. It led to discussion amongst the boys e.g. was that not assault?

Sexual harassment is unwanted behaviour which you find offensive or which makes you feel intimidated or humiliated and the behaviour is of a sexual nature. You don’t need to have previously objected to something for it to be unwanted.
