Goal 1 Criteria 8 Forest Vista EAGLE PALS enjoyed a holiday party and scavenger hunt at school yesterday. EAGLE PALS is a program where staff and students partner together and make positive connections on a weekly basis! The mentor is a teacher or staff member from Forest Vista. The purpose of this program is to provide support and guidance to students to promote academic and social success while enhancing students feelings of belonging as Forest Vista Eagles.

Goal 2 Criteria 2 Every grade level at FVE has their own Science lab! Teachers utilize these labs weekly, and the students excel in the Scientific Environment for authentic, hands on activities! In addition, this provides students the opportunity to work on High Tech-High Touch Science!

Goal 1 Criteria 11 We have an awesome character education program at Forest Vista called I CARE. The traits that we are looking for at Forest Vista are: Integrity Cooperation Attitude Respect Effort When students display one of these traits, they earn a heart which is displayed on the wall outside the cafeteria. The hearts are displayed for six weeks and then sent home to be shared with their family. We hope that you celebrate the good things your child does, when a heart is earned.

Goal 2 Criteria 2 Second graders recently created an iMovie (using school iPads) to showcase their learning at the Fort Worth Zoo. A group of 5th graders helped the 2nd graders navigate through the features of the iMovie program.

Goal 3 Criteria 7 Mini-Society is a 5th grade tradition at Forest Vista. Among other things, the project serves as a fundraiser for the students annual Water Rocks field trip to Waco and Georgetown. Many valuable lessons are taught within this engaging experience. The students extend their knowledge of free-enterprise as they relate their personal experiences at Mini- Society to the impact of supply and demand on consumers and producers in the United States now and throughout our history. This also impacts their understanding of the development, characteristics, and benefits of the free enterprise system in the United States.

The CEO, Mr. Jack Lynch, and Executive Vice President, Mrs. Marian Staton of Renaissance learning visited our campus in November as a reflection of FVE success with our Reading Enrichment program; FVE students read an estimated 20,000 books last year alone! Goal 3 Criteria 7 The FMHS Varsity football team came to Forest Vista Elementary to promote the importance of reading. The children really look up to these Football players as heroes. The players came in, introduced themselves and read a book on the students level. Then they answered questions and signed autographs. We had the players that visited the Kindergarten rooms do a little song and dance with us. We had a GREAT TIME!!!

Goal 4 Criteria 1 Family is very important to us at Forest Vista. Fourth graders recently asked relatives to send in their favorite holiday memories and pictures. They also wrote about their favorite memories of Christmas and the holiday season. These treasures are currently being assembled by the students into keepsakes that they will treasure for a lifetime!

Goal 4 Criteria 1 With guidance and help from their 4th grade buddies, kindergarten students wrote letters to Santa in the computer lab. Thank you to Mrs. Loftis' kindergarten class and Mrs. Burris' 4th grade class for sharing this lesson with all of us. Thank you to the three 5th graders who took on the responsibility of recording this lesson and interviewing these children! Our FVE "across the street" neighbors, welcomed our students on to their property/holiday wonderland. There was so much to see and do, and the children loved every minute!

Goal 5 Criteria 2 FVE communicates weekly, informing the community of: Happenings in the classroom Assemblies Photos of everyday FVE activities Upcoming events

Goal 5 Criteria 3 The Flower Mound Environmental Services came out to FVE and implemented Science TEKS with our 2 nd graders. The students learned about Arbor Day, and had a full morning of hands on enrichment; furthermore, a tree was planted on school property, and is being maintained by the students.

Goal 4 Criteria 1 Goal 7 Criteria 1 I had intended to attend your Coffee Talk this morning but had to get back for a conference call. I do plan to attend the subsequent sessions and I wanted to reach out to you to say that I think its a brilliant idea… I enjoyed our coffee talk this morning. Thank you for that. Thanks for hosting this. Ive got to say, I think that these meetings are valuable. Enables parents to have input in their childs education. If nothing else, for a working parent such as myself, helps keeps me informed of the various things that happen throughout the school day, so thank you. I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate not only the monthly meetings, but the follow through you provide on the topics discussed. I leave the meetings feeling very positive about a school that I have not really been too excited about thus far. I think it's amazing how much you are going above and beyond for the parents, and of course for the kids. Thank you for your enthusiasm and hard work…
