Literacy Assessment/ English Provincial The first administration of the new literacy assessment will be in January 2020. The English 12 Provincial will be phased out as the Literacy Assessment is introduced. Students graduating in the 2018/19 school year (current grade 11s) will take a Language Arts 12 course and the traditional exam to satisfy graduation requirements for the 2018 Graduation Program.

Requirements for Post-Secondary Since the requirements are always changing, you must research the specific post-secondary institution websites. Remember: The minimum requirements to graduate from high school may not get you into university. Each Post Secondary program has its own requirements. 12

SFU FALL 2019 incoming class (current grade 11 students) Grade 11 requirements - no changes:  English 11  Language 11 Science 11 Math 11 (minimum 60%) Grade 12 requirements:  minimum of 5 approved grade 12 courses, including English 12 minimum final blended grade of 70% in English 12 two lists of approved grade 12 courses for each program/faculty:  List A: includes grade 12 courses required or recommended for the program List B: includes additional approved grade 12 courses admission evaluation is based on all approved grade 12 courses, with greater emphasis on List A courses, and allowances made for students who have completed 6 or more grade 12 courses

FALL 2020 Incoming cohort (current grade 10 students) Grade 11 requirements: one additional grade 11 course required English 11 Language 11 Science 11 Math 11 (minimum 60%) Social Studies 11 or 12 Grade 12 requirements:  inclusion of grade 11 courses in the evaluation minimum of 5 required grade 12 courses* including English minimum final grade of 70% in English 12 literacy assessment must be written at the time of admission - further details to come two lists of approved grade 11 and grade 12 courses for each program/faculty (**SEE WEBSITE**):  List A: includes grade 11 and grade 12 courses required or recommended for the program List B: includes additional approved grade 11 and grade 12 courses admission evaluation is based on all approved grade 11 and grade 12 courses, with greater emphasis on List A courses, and allowances made for students who have completed 6 or more grade 12 courses *Course lists will be adjusted with new courses as the new curriculum is finalized; information to be released by January 2019.

Distributed Learning: What is it? Alternate way to complete core academic courses and electives at the Grade 10, 11, and 12 levels. Follows BC Ministry of Education Curriculum. All courses lead to graduation. Learning with a technology focus: using online tools. Individual DL staff

Supports athlete training schedules & part-time work schedules. Uses 21st century learning skills (technology). Preparation for online course delivery options in post- secondary and trades programs.
