3 Graduation Requirements Earn a minimum of 26 credits
Meet the following specific subject and credit requirements: Earn 4 credits of English Earn 3 credits of Social Studies Earn 2 credits of Math (Algebra and Geometry - 3 credits for college) Earn 2 credits of Science (Biological and Physical Science - 3 credits for college) Earn 1.5 credits of Physical Education Earn .5 credit of Health Education Earn .5 credit of Computer Literacy Option A: Earn 1 credit of fine arts and 1 credit of career technical education OR Option B: Earn 2 credits of world language, .5 credit of fine arts and .5 credit of career technical education

4 Credits earned by the end of your SOPHOMORE year…
Earned the following credits (at least 14 credits): 2 crs. in math (algebra, geometry, beyond) 2 crs. in science (a level of biology and physics) 2 crs. in social studies (a level of US history and world history-overview) 2 crs. English (a level of English 1 and English 2) 1 cr. PE (physical education1 and physical education 2) .5 cr. health education

5 Credits earned by the end of your JUNIOR year…
Earned the following credits (at least 20 credits total): 2 crs. in math (3 for college) 2 crs. in science (3 for college) 2-3 crs. in social studies 3 crs. English 1-1.5 crs. PE .5 health education

6 Retaking a Course Due to a Failure Grade…
Plan on Summer School at East or Memorial It is YOUR responsibility to work with your counselor around failed courses Career Cruising may not let you select the next course in the sequence without making up the failure Select the courses you need to re-take codes

7 Flip to the check box side of the course card…
Grade eligible courses Shaded are required classes Fees may apply English as a Second Language and/or Special Education Services only for students that receive services contact a BRS or case manager to assist with course selection

8 Flip to the information side of the course card…
ID number, Last and First Name, Current Grade and 2nd Block teacher Circle or write in: credit amount course number course name if it is not included on the card Required courses on card Write in elective choices under the required courses

Select at least 3-4 alternate courses These courses will only be used if you do not receive all of your elective course requests. If you do not add alternative course requests, courses may be selected for you.

16 Courses that are worth 1or 2 credits…
The following courses can be taken for 1or 2 credits: Yearbook Design & Publishing Newspaper Publishing and Writing for the Media Career Internship Store Management Select 1or 2 credits on your course card

17 Music Classes for 11th & 12th Grade are offered Odd or Even Days
odd days: wind ensemble, philharmonic orchestra and concert choir even days: jazz ensemble and advanced concert choir - audition only Other options for even days: study hall, or teacher assistant There is no English option

18 Scheduling Policies Doubling up
Making up Failed Graduation Requirements Becoming a Senior Teacher signatures are not required for honors level courses but conversations are strongly recommended Level changes Dropping a class Schedule changes Retake for grade replacement

19 Appropriate Schedule Change Requests
Failure of graduation requirements Prerequisite not met Not a full-time student (7 credits for juniors – 6 credits for seniors) Summer coursework necessitates a change 3 academic courses in 1 semester Level Changes

Took the PSAT/PLAN Know how to read your transcript Worked with MATC staff Refined your Career Cruising career search Decided on a post high school plan Initiated post high school plan Scheduled and took any required courses (including a failed course) On track with your 4 year plan

23 What should I have accomplished by the end of my SENIOR year?
Graduated Prepared to enter my post high school plan 4 year college 2 year college, technical or specialty school Job Military Apprenticeship Learned everything I could! Experienced everything I could! No regrets!
