First aid and crisis support The Swedish Work Environment Autority’s provisions on first aid and crisis support: Definition Risk assessment Preparedness First aid knowledge DefinitionSuch measures as must be applied immediatley and at the scene int the event of an accident or acute illnes, in order to restore and maintain vital odily functions or prevent further development of an injury. Risk assessment: All employers must plan, organize and follow up risks of ill health and accidents that could occur in their specific work environment. This should be part of the internal control of the work environment. Preparedness: All work places should have a routine for first aid and crisis support needed for the specific work environment. Knowledge: All workers must know the routines. A certian amount of staff should have first aid knowledge, courses should be taken on a continuous basis. 2018-11-16 © AB Previa 2004 © AB Previa 2004

Chemical burns Certain chemicals can cause severe wounds and corrosive damage to the skin Actions: Call for help, call 112 Make sure you have protective clothing before helping the exposed person Remove contaminated clothing Shower the exposed person at the same time in temperate water Do not remove clothing over head – cut off if necessary Rinse for at least 5-10 minutes Follow instructions in the product’s leaflet If there is a risk of dousing with a hot & corrosive substanse, it is important to wear protective clothing 2018-11-16 © AB Previa 2004 © AB Previa 2004

Report all occupational injuries The employee must notify all injuries/incidents to the employer The employer must then notify the Social insurance office and in case of severe injury/accident also notify the Swedish Work Environment Authority www.anmalarbetsskada.se ”Socialförsäkringsbalken”. Swedish Work Environment Authority. Work-related injuries should always be documented and reported to the Social Insurance Office. There 3 reasons for this. The Social Insurance Office will evaluate if the victem is entitled to compensation according to ”Socialförsäkringsbalken” The employer must investigate the cause of the accident/incident and take preventive measures it doesn’t happen again.
