What is the purpose of advertising? To entertain us To persuade us to spend our money To give information To promote brand names and designer labels

Where else can we see advertising?

How do adverts persuade us to spend our money? Tells a story Free gifts This is the BEST!! Play a game Music Humour The BIG promise Buy ONE, get ONE free! Famous people recommend or use this product Repetition of the advert Well know animation characters Special film effects

Who else can persuade us to spend our money? Sales people in shops Friends Family members

How does it make you feel? If your friend tries to persuade you to spend your money? If you try to persuade a friend to spend their money? What words describe those feelings?

Think before you buy! Find out more about the products before you buy them: Ask questions… don’t believe everything you are told Research and compare prices online and in shops Visit a shop to look at the product
