Syllabus of Ayurveda medicine Fall 2011 Description This course is on the ancient India medicine called Ayurveda that is over 5,000 years old. The holistic approach to Ayurveda has two meanings 1. Ayus and 2. Veda. Ayus is the meaning of lifespan and Veda is the knowledge to obtain from the practice. The basic principle of Ayurveda that is taught during the lecture is how to prevent and treat diseases to maintain balance in the mind-body-spirit. Organization This is a lecture course that will explain the history, healing, and diet in the Ayurveda practice. During the lecture students are require to take notes for projects, and self test to see how far you have come to the understanding of Ayurveda. The lecture will be given by the professor of the class and sometimes from former students who practice Ayurveda medicine.
