Endangered & Threatened Species Anything in yellow do not write!

Before species become extinct they can be categorized as threatened or endangered.

Endangered Species & Threatened Species Endangered Species – a species of animal or plant that is seriously at risk of extinction Examples you should know: Most big cats, Great Whites, Most amphibians. Threatened Species – Species that are vulnerable to endangerment in the near future. Examples you should know: Most predatory fish, manatees.

What do we do to prevent extinctions? The Endangered Species Act of 1973 (ESA) was signed on December 28, 1973, and provides for the conservation of species that are endangered or threatened throughout all or a significant portion of their range, and the conservation of the ecosystems on which they depend. *EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO KNOW*

Poaching Poaching - The illegal hunting or capturing of wild animals, usually associated with land use rights.

What Can we do!? Donate to WWF (world wildlife foundation) and other environmental organizations that help our planet. Eat sustainable seafood (80% of the worlds biodiversity comes from our oceans), eating seafood that isn’t threatened and is being farm raised. Using renewable energies, walking/biking instead of driving short distances. Planting native flowers to promote insect diversity which is a food source for millions of different species. Voting for candidates that care for the environment and want to help reduce deforestation and biodiversity loss. Buying sustainable products and gifts that aren’t made from products that harm the environment. Recycling & Reusing even helps a lot!
