KAREN E10-1 Endangered Species

Summary An endangered species is a population of organisms which is facing a high risk of becoming extinct because it is either few in numbers, or threatened by changing environmental or predation parameters.

How does this problem affect us? The ecosystem is destroyed. If a species is exterminated, the predation which eat them will be decreased then people’s food will be lacked.

Solutions Many nations have laws offering protection to conservation reliant species such as forbidding hunting, restricting land development or creating preserves. But many people poach animals against the laws. There are many organizations to protect the animals. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has calculated the percentage of endangered species. The organization publishes the IUCN Red List, which assesses the conservation status of species. It arouses people´s attention to the dangerousness of endangered animal and importance of protection animals.

In the zoo, keepers grow and protect the animals and try to inbreed them. But the environment of zoo is not equal to their habitat and it can’t keep their wild habit. And it was built for commercial purposes.

Statistics LC - Least Concern DD - Data Deficient NT - Near Threatened VU - Vulnerable EN - Endangered CR - Critically Endangered EW - Extinct in the Wild

Possible Solutions To increase the sanctuary for wild animals and to observe animal. It can protect wild habit of animals and prevent poaching. To extend supports and activities of private organizations and government. It can attract people’s attention on animal protection. Don’t buy goods which made of skin or hair of animals often. It can reduce the poaching of animals.

What will be the result if this problem isn’t solved soon? A lot of species will extinct and will be left as the species that we can contact it only through books, museums, and internet like a dinosaur. It will cause the destruction and a big change of ecosystem.
