What is Instagram? Instagram is an online mobile photo-sharing, video-sharing and social networking service that enables its users to take pictures and videos, and share them on a variety of social networking platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Flickr. A photo has to be posted for a user to say something and other users can 'double tap/like' the image and respond. Photos can also be sent privately through personal messages. In June 2013 Instagram added a video feature where users can post videos up to 15 seconds long to appear in peoples news feeds. As of 2014 16 billion photos had been uploaded to Instagram.

More about Instagram… Instagram was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. Was launched in October 6th 2010 as a free mobile app. Instagram stands to share the best part of $1billion that Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg paid for their creation. When the company was bought in 2014 by Facebook, it had 13 staff working in it's company. America, Japan and Brazil are the most popular countries using Instagram.

It was uploaded on Jan. 16, 2011 by user Jennifer Lee: and was liked 67 times. since then the hashtag has been used a staggering 57 million times. Instagram's unique selling point is the photo filter, a digital layer that, when added to a standard photo, gives it the appearance of professional editing. Some filters enhance the colours in a photo, while other dull the light to a soft glow for an aged, vintage appearance.
