The Circulatory System

The circulatory System The circulatory system has two important functions: It moves blood and regulates body temperature. The circulatory system is made up of your heart, blood vessels, and blood. The circulatory system transports oxygen, nutrients, and waste through the body in the blood.

Mini clip on the parts of blood: http://vimeo.com/19630651 What is in blood? Plasma: is mostly water that contains nutrients and waste products such as carbon dioxide. Red blood cells: absorb oxygen from the air in the lungs White blood cells: help the body fight infection Platelets: help blood clot Mini clip on the parts of blood: http://vimeo.com/19630651

Blood Vessels There are three types of blood vessels in the circulatory system More about blood vessels: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjNKbL_-cwA

The Heart The heart, an organ made up of muscle tissue, is the pump that keeps blood moving through blood vessels. The heart has 4 chambers: Right Atrium Right Ventricle Left Atrium Left Ventricle Circulatory System Rap: http://ww.youtube.com/watch?v=LqhvmUEdOYY

Heart Valve Heart valves are structures in the heart that prevent blood from flowing the wrong way. The human heart has 4 valves: Mitral Valve (left ventricle – left atrium) Aortic Valve (left ventricle – aorta) Tricuspid Valve (right ventricle- right atrium) Pulmonary Valve (right ventricle – pulmonary trunk) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8HYmaDpWp E https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=4 &v=92fjJzxKRPo
