Cell Review Game We will learn how single cells and their organelles function. You will be shown 11 slides. Each slide will provide you with 4 pictures. Each picture represents a function of a cell part. As a group, you will use your cell structure and function cards to determine which cell part is represented in each slide. Once your group has decided which organelle is represented you will hold up the organelle card for your teacher to see. We will discuss the collage as a class. What does each picture represent? Individually complete your student worksheet. Teacher notes: Yesterday you looked at single cell and gave evidence why the organisms is considered living. Make students see the connection between yesterdays assignment and the more in-depth view of cells and their organelles. Take the time to ask those students who chose the right cell structure... What image gave it away? And those that did not choose the right answer .... What was difficult?

Chloroplast Converts solar energy into usable energy Makes glucose (sugar) Releases oxygen Found in plant cells

Vacuole Storage Stores food Stores water Stores toxic waste

Nucleus Holds Genetic material (blueprint/ DNA) Gives directions Control center

Cell membrane Removes waste Gateway in and out Brings nutrients in Controls what comes in and out

Ribosome Uses DNA to build Protein Put together Links (amino acids) to build protein

Mitochondria Uses sugar Releases carbon dioxide Energy source Converts chemical energy to useable energy

Meat Packaging Company Golgi Sends? Packages Transports proteins Modifies; Best readiness Meat Packaging Company

Lysosome Cleans Removes waste Digest materials Recycles materials

Cytoplasm Organizes material Holds organelles Keeps things in place Allows transportation in cell

Lipid Protein Endoplasmic reticulum Location for production Makes lipids and proteins Removes toxins Roadway for transportation in cell

Cell wall Outer wall Not in animals Support Protection
