Women get Progressive: Late 1800’s new opportunities emerged for women in education and employment 1833 Oberlin College(Ohio) allows women to enroll 1870 20% college students are women 1915 women allowed into American Medical Association Today 56% college students are women Employment “Caring Industry” teachers and nurses New industry attracts women, especially garment Less pay than men for same job Business caters to new workers with advertisements and female journalists
