Which Mobile?

Discussion What made you pick your mobile phone? What quantitative factors did you consider? What qualitative factors influenced your choice?

In this lesson students are learning about: factors that determine which mobile phone best meets an individual’s requirements

At the end of this lesson students will be able to: select mobile phones that meet a given set of user requirements, taking account of quantitative and qualitative factors

Which is the right one for me? Task: 35 mins In pairs look at User Requirements.doc You should use the Internet to choose a different phone for each of the 4 users. (No you can’t just say an iphone will meet everyone’s needs all the time!) You need to explain to another pair which phone you have chosen for each user and why.

For info… There is a difference between matching functionality of a mobile phone with features that you might actually want…

I need a mobile phone that has… a good size screen so that I can browse the internet tri-band so that I can use it when travelling abroad a QWERTY keypad so that I can email and text with ease Bluetooth so that I can swap photos with my family and friends

I want a mobile phone that has … an ultra-thin design a video calling facility a camera enough megapixels so that I can print pictures up to 8x10 inches

And finally Have a look at this exam question…. Lets go through it as a class…

Homework Over the next few days I want you to fill in a “mobile phone usage log.” Be honest! It is really important you do this as we will need this information in two lessons time….
