Health Care Aide – Admission Requirements RRC Grade 12, including grade 12 English, grade 12 math, and grade 10, 11, or 12 science Reading Skills test (for students educated in Canada) or English Skills Assessment (for students education outside of Canada) Current and Completed Immunization and Testing Criminal Record Check and Abuse Registry Checks ACC Grade 12 English language proficiency requirement – for students educated outside of Canada Special Selection (compulsory orientation several months before program start date, academic assessment test) Current and Completed Immunization and Testing Criminal Record and Abuse Registry Checks

Practical Nurse – Core Tasks Provide medical treatment to patients, such as bandaging wounds or giving medication Help patients bathe, dress, eat, or walk Record food and fluid intake and output Monitor vital signs Collect samples and perform routine lab tests

Practical Nurse – Admission Requirements Grade 12 English 40G/40S or equivalent, with a minimum mark of 60% Essential Mathematics 40G/40S, or equivalent with a minimum mark of 60%. Applied and Pre-calculus Math 40S or equivalent are also acceptable. A science, (Biology, Chemistry or Physics), at the 40S level or equivalent, with a minimum mark of 60%. Math for Nurses (MATH-0014) with a minimum mark of 95%.

Registered Nurse – Core Tasks Perform physical exams and collect patient information Provide medical treatment to patients, such as bandaging wounds or giving medication Monitor results of treatments Keep patients informed Maintain records and charts, and supervise other nurses and health support staff

Registered Nurse – Admission Requirements RRC Grade 12 including English 40S and Applied or Pre-Calculus 40S with a grade of 70% or higher Human Anatomy and Physiology (6 credit hours, 65% or better in each course) Reading Skills or English Skills Assessment Current and Completed Immunizations and Testing  Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers Level C, with AED Criminal Record Check, Child and Adult Abuse Registry Check U of M Grade 12 average of at least 70% over 3 40S credits One credit of 40S English with a minimum grade of 60% Math 40S (any level) Biology 40S (recommended) Pre-Nursing (competitive: 2017 minimum AGPA – 3.5239) BU Grade 12 average of at least 70% over 5 approved 40S courses At least 60% in grade 12 English Pre-Calculus or Applied Math 40S Biology 40S Chemistry 40S (strongly recommended) Pre-Nursing (competitive: 2017 minimum AGPA – 3.24)

LPN to RN Program – Admission Requirements Brandon University For students who have: Graduated from the Assiniboine Community College Diploma Practical Nursing program Practiced nursing for the equivalent of full time (900 hours) within the past 24 months in Manitoba Upon admission to the BN program, students will enter directly into Year 3 of the BN program. RRC For students who have LPN Post-Secondary Education A minimum of 1,000 hours of clinical practice in the last 3 years An LPN license If you are a graduate of the ACC or UCN LPN program, you will enter year 2 of the Nursing program

Psychiatric Nurse – Core Tasks Assess and talk to patients about their problems and discuss the best way to plan and deliver their care Ensure the correct administration of medication and monitor the results of treatment Respond to distressed patients in a non-threatening manner and attempt to understand the source of distress Prepare and participate in group and/or one-to-one therapy sessions, both individually and with other health professionals Organise social events aimed at developing patients' social skills and helping to reduce feelings of isolation Work with patients' families and carers, helping to educate them and the patient about their mental health problems

Psychiatric Nursing – Admission Requirements Entrance to the Pre-Psychiatric Nursing Year: The following High School subjects are highly recommended: English 40, Math 40S, (Pre-Calculus or Applied) and Sciences 40S (Biology or Chemistry preferred) Students entering the Pre-Psychiatric Nursing year are required to meet with the Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing Student Advisor prior to course registration Entrance to the Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing (BScPN) program: Minimum grade of C in all Health Studies Psychiatric Nursing courses and a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher in the Pre-Psychiatric Nursing year Criminal Record Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check and a Child Abuse Registry Check is required. GPA in the Pre-Psychiatric Nursing courses will be the primary criterion for admission

Nurse Practitioner – Core Tasks Perform physical exams and collect patient information Diagnose, treat, and manage common illnesses Provide medical treatment to patients, such as bandaging wounds or giving medication May prescribe medication, order lab tests, and interpret test results Educate the community about health issues

Nurse Practitioner – Admission Requirements Four-year Bachelor's degree in nursing, mental health nursing or psychiatric nursing (or equivalent) Proof of RN Registration 3600 hours full time clinical practice within the past five years Completion of a Research Methods course and an introductory Statistics course with a minimum grade of 2.5 (C+) in each course A minimum adjusted grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B) in the last 60 credit hours of university study
