PLANTS By Antonio Lombardi

Organisms An organism is a living thing. Plants and animals are organisms All organisms have cells.

Plant cells Cells are the building blocks of life. Plant cells have a nucleus, chloroplast, cell membrane, cell wall, and cytoplasm.

Parts of a plant There are four parts of a plant The root, stem, leaves, & flowers

Roots Help hold the plant in the ground Take in water and minerals from the soil Plant part that grows underground

Stem Plant part that supports the plant Carries food from leaves to other parts Carries water and minerals from the roots Help the plant stand upright

Leaves Use a gas from the air called carbon dioxide They have chlorophyll which traps energy from the sunlight They take in sunlight They use sun's energy, carbon dioxide, and water to make food They are the main food making part of the plant

LIFE cycle of a plant The life cycle of a pumpkin is seed, sprout, vine, green pumpkin, and orange pumpkin

Flowering plants Flowering plants have a male parts and female parts The female parts make eggs that become seeds The male parts make pollen.

Conifers Conifers don't bloom flowers. Conifers have cones, and the cones have seeds. It's obvious that they have cones because it's in the name.

What plants need to survive Plants need four things to survive. Plants need sunlight (AKA energy),water, minerals, and air.

Why people need plants to survive Plants take in carbon dioxide and Iet out oxygen for animals to breathe. Some plants are food to some animals such as humans.
