The training model Click here to continue On 3 April 2018 we will turn on the products that make up the training model. The purpose of the training model is to ensure that all training that CITB supports is delivered to a standard that is recognised across Great Britain. At launch, while the systems will be available, they will not be fully populated so a transition process will be in place. This section shows you how the full training model will work when fully running, and how the transition process works. Click here to continue

The training model when fully running Employer wants to book training from open market. Visit the Construction Training Directory to select and book. Training occurs and outcome achieved. ATO records achievement on Construction Training Register. Click this box to learn more about ATOs. Payment sent to employer automatically. Click this box to learn about the transition payment process. Employer wants to train in-house.

Approved Training Organisations (ATOs) What is an ATO? How do I become an ATO? 3 April 2018 Live The ask of employers is to encourage their providers to sign up as ATOs, or to sign up yourself if delivering in-house. This means that you can get automated grants and achievements are recorded on the Construction Training Register. An ATO is a CITB approved organisation that takes responsibility to ensure that training is delivered to the standard set. This can be a commercial provider, an employer training in-house, a trade body or a training group. ATOs are able to market their training courses on the Training Directory. Application through the CITB website Commercial providers pay £750 annual fee Non commercial, or in-house employer training no fee Makes agreement to use and access systems and comply with quality requirements. Commercial ATOs’ courses live on training directory. ATOs able to enter achievement on Construction Training Register for employer to get automated grants.

Just to note The transition payment process is essential to support the transition from old to new and gives us a way to ensure we can operate the grants scheme while we bed the new systems in. It will stay in place until such a time as we are convinced that everything is in place and working. We encourage employers to get their ATOs to sign up, or to get their in-house team signed up, or they won’t get grants after that time. (Click to continue)

Transition Payment Process This is in place until training is available through an ATO. Employer must be registered for Grant Online. Register at www.citb.co.uk/citbonline-signup. Single or individual claim Employer records achievement through Grant Online. Training Register updated. Payment sent to employer. Bulk claim Use .csv template from Grant Online and populate. Upload .csv to Grant Online. Please click here for some Q&As

Transition Q&A This process will be followed where the previous chart is not fully in place. What happens if… Do I proceed with the training? Use Construction Training Register? Use transition payment process? Will I get grant? I booked a course based on the course list. The standard is now different or not yet confirmed. *As long as the course still aligns to the standard - doesn’t need to be the same title, as long as it’s the same subject. Yes!* No Yes My ATO has not yet signed up. Yes! I booked my course with a signed up ATO, but the standard is not yet agreed. Can do, system will identify duplicate claims The course I’ve booked is in a subject you’ve said is supported, but the standard is not agreed and my ATO is not signed up. I train in line with the course list, but I do it in-house, and I have not yet registered with CITB as an ATO. I train in line with the course list but do it in-house, and I have registered with you. Can still use this The training standard isn’t ready in time. I’m doing training that is not on the course list or isn’t construction specific.
