Testimonial -A famous person endorses a product or service. Why might this convince someone to buy the product or use the service? Example: Lebron James appearing in a Sprite commercial.
Bandwagon -when you use peer pressure to convince someone to join you because “everyone is doing it.” Why might this technique be effective? What fear is it playing on? Example: You see everyone using apple products, and beg your parents to get you an iPhone.
Name Calling -using an unpleasant label or description to harm a person, group, or product. Example:
Glittering Generalities -uses words or vague statements that sound good but have little real meaning. Example: “Stronger Together”-Hillary Clinton campaign slogan “Make America Great Again”-Donald Trump campaign slogan
Plain-Folks Appeal -when candidates describe themselves as being just plain, hardworking citizens.
Card Stacking -using facts that support only one side of a particular product, idea, or candidate.
