National Security Language Initiative for Youth NSLI-Y Goal: To increase the number of American youth learning critical languages that are less frequently taught in the U.S. but important to our engagement in the world. Summer (6-8 weeks) or academic year overseas to study the language, live with a host family, and experience the culture. Fulbright U.S. Student Program Critical Language Enhancement Award (CLEA) Offered to Fulbright U.S. Student grantees Typically from three to six months of intensive language study Requires the use of one of the eligible languages for the Fulbright project and beyond Language instruction providers and duration of programs vary. Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching One semester abroad pursuing individualized projects. Participants include language teachers and other K-12 educators. Short term option: 2-6 weeks in response to request from Fulbright Commission abroad. Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms Online course, symposium, and 2-3 week exchange. Participants include language teachers and other K-12 educators. In Teachers for Global Classrooms language teachers can improve their language and gain authentic experiences in the culture

Teachers of Critical Languages Program K-12 schools host teachers from China, Egypt or Morocco Who teach Mandarin Chinese or Arabic for an academic year, either establishing or expanding an existing program. TCLprogram.org
