With Over 28,000 Students and over 3,000 Staff and Faculty Members, Georgia State University requires a great amount of resources in order to function effectively.

There Are A Number Of Appliances and Equipment That Require A Great Deal Of Energy On Campus… Lights Air Conditioners Computers and Lab Equipment

Turn Off Your Lights When You Leave Your Office Turn Off Your Computer And Monitor At The End Of The Day Be Careful When Adjusting The Thermostat-Does It Really Need To Be That Cold In Your Room?

Shutting down PCs at night can save a company with 10,000 PCs over $260,000 a year (and 1,871 tons of carbon dioxide emissions)!! If the world's 1 billion PCs were powered down just one night, it would save enough energy to light the Empire State Building - inside and out - for over 30 years!

In the summer months, the air conditioner's thermostat should not be set any lower than 78 degrees Fahrenheit. Likewise, the settings should not be any higher than 68 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter.

Toilets Sinks Air Conditioners

Low-flush toilets <1.28 gallons per flush. No-flush urinals Low-flow Sinks Rain collection system

Operating Costs: Saves 100% of the water going through urinals and 100% of water and sewer charges. Each urinal typically saves 40,000 gallons (151,000 liters) of fresh water per year.

Building Services has recently purchased eight 250- gallon water collection tanks that will capture rainwater runoff to be used for pressure washing projects and irrigation

GSU recycles cardboard, plain, color, magazines, newspapers, phone books, books, as well as drink containers like bottles and cans, and wooden pallets

During the academic year, the campus recycled 320 tons of paper and 6 tons of cans and bottles.

Please call for additional information or to obtain recycling containers
