Today you will know… The causes of the French and Indian War The effects of the French and Indian War

This leads to war… The French and Indian War The British and the American Colonists Vs. The French and the Native Americans

The French and Indian war A young George Washington gains first experience on the battlefield After nine years of fighting, France loses

Treaty of Paris Great Britain gains all territory east of the Mississippi River including Florida Spain takes land west of the Mississippi

Proclamation of 1763 After acquiring the new territory, Britain did not allow American colonists to settle on any land west of the Appalachian Mountains

Proclamation of 1763

Effects of the French and Indian war As a result of the war, Britain acquired a large amount of debt which led to increased… MORE TAXES!!!! Despite orders from the British government, American settlers crossed the Appalachians anyway. Increased violence by Native Americans in the west.

Take out a sheet of paper… Who were on the two sides of the Seven Years’ War? What did the Proclamation Line of 1763 prevent? What were two effects of the Seven Years’ war?
