Myplate What’s on My plate?

What are some of your favorite foods or meals?

Fruits MyPlate says to make half your plate fruits and vegetables 1 serving of fruit equals 1 cup Example: Baseball or size of your fist You should get 2 servings of fruit per day

Vegetables A serving size of vegetables is 1 cup of raw or cooked vegetables or 2 cups of lettuce Example: Baseball or size of your fist You should get 2.5 servings of vegetables per day

Grains A serving size of grains is 1 slice of bread, ½ cup of rice, cereal or pasta Examples: ½ cup is about the size of a tennis ball, a pancake or waffle should be about the size of a CD You should get 6 servings of grains per day

Protein A serving size of protein is 1 oz of lean meat, 1 egg, 1 tablespoon peanut butter, ½ oz seeds or nuts, about 1.5 cups of beans Example: a serving of nuts is about the size of a golf ball, the palm of your hand is about the size of a serving of meat or poultry You should get 5.5 servings of protein per day

Dairy A serving size of dairy is 1 cup of milk or yogurt, 1.5 oz cheese Examples: 6 dice sized cubes is a serving of cheese You should get 3 cups of dairy per day
