Agenda Contents Different types of documents Location of the HCC documentation Where to apply the HCC procedures? Case of HC tests Case of interventions Conclusion

New documents for HC Test procedures General safety procedures Concern all tests which have to be done during the hardware commissioning from the IST to the powering of the SC circuits up to nominal current Description of the tests Condition to start and during the tests Status of the equipments after the tests Risk analysis and safety compensatory measures Co-activities Test Procedure for warm magnet circuits General safety procedures Concern the general safety aspects of the HC Access conditions vs status of the sector (Pressure test, flushing, Cooldown, ElQA) Access to the sector during the powering tests

New document for HC Specific risk safety procedures Concern the specific risks during the hardware commissioning of the superconducting circuits (mainly electrical and cryogenic risks). Description of the specific risks How to eliminate the risks Procedure to be follow Intervention procedures Concern the most frequent interventions Same idea as for the test procedures: identify the risks and give the procedure to follow to do the intervention in safety conditions Avis/Permis de travail and attestation de consignation Document to prove that the CT has respected the safety procedure and the intervention is authorized by HCC/Cryo. Permis de travail cryo Avis de travail Attestation de consignation

Location of the HCC documentation You can find all documents in the web pages of the HCC http://hcc.web.cern.ch/hcc/ Here

Where are the documents? You can find all documents in the web pages of the HCC http://hcc.web.cern.ch/hcc/ Special folder for the safety

Where to apply the HC procedures? The HC procedures are applicable only: In the areas under the responsibility of the HCC During the HC periods Safety CERN regulation is also mandatory HCC procedures + CERN regulation Powering Tests are ongoing between 10 oct 2007 and 15 nov 2007 CERN regulation

Hardware commissioning tests Condition to start the tests The campaigns are announced The tests areas are delimited The tests are planned every day during the HCC meeting The tests are realized only by trained teams (official list)

hardware commissioning tests Documents which have to be applied CERN safety regulation + HCC safety procedures Tests procedures No “avis de travail” “Consignation” if necessary (responsibility of the CT) “Cryo Permit” + “Cryo consignation” if necessary (responsibility of CT) The EIC and HC team have to strictly follow Test procedures The daily tests defined during the morning HCC meeting

Intervention during the HC tests CERN safety regulation + HCC safety procedures Intervention procedures when they exist Risk analysis + VIC when the intervention procedures do not exist “Avis de travail” “Consignation” if necessary (responsibility of the CT) “Cryo Permit” + Cryo consignation” if necessary (responsibility of the CT) The CT have to do Always contact the EIC before and after the intervention

Intervention during the HC tests When the intervention is done by the HC team (official list) CERN safety regulation + HCC safety procedures Intervention procedures when they exist Risk analysis (done the CT) VIC if necessary (responsibility of the CT) “Avis de travail” or “verbal/e-mail authorization” (responsibility of the CT) “Consignation” if necessary (responsibility of the CT) “Cryo Permit” + Cryo consignation” if necessary (responsibility of the CT) The CT have to do Always contact the EIC before and after the intervention

Intervention during the HC tests When the intervention is done by the Piquet (official list) CERN safety regulation + HCC safety procedures Intervention procedures when they exist Risk analysis (done the CT) VIC if necessary (responsibility of the CT) “Avis de travail” “Consignation” if necessary (responsibility of the CT) “Cryo Permit” + Cryo consignation” if necessary (responsibility of the CT) The CT have to do Always contact the EIC before and after the intervention

Conclusion The safety starts when: The workers are trained (theory and practice) The risks are identified The regulation is followed by everybody Everybody use the same regulation There are safety controls
