Circular economy in Poland– reflections of SME Brussels, 10.10.2017

Abut me… about our companies Grzegorz Pelczar – I’am form Carcow, owner of a consulting company, a shareholder of several companies in the recycling industry, waste management; CEO of die-casting company; project menager of a few successful completed projects focused of circular economy idea

CIRCLUAR ECONOMY – my experience Form my point of view: 1. core business 2. R&D projects (EU, national funding) 3. laboratory of a new possibilities – new business 4. possibilities for reconstructing and improving the energy efficiency Circular economy is also a chance of a new generation business start-up because it’s based on a different mentality than previous generation business, different way of making business.

REFLECTION – why CE appears in Polnad NOT SO DIFFERENT Our economy is not so different than western european economies (especially in the model of exploitation of natural resources); maybe in municipal waste management… THIS IS THIS TIME 4R Principles (foresight governmental documents (2009-2012)) PRICES AND AVAILABILITY OF RESOURCES raw materials industry EU, NATIONAL FUNDING FOREIGN COMPANIES

PROJECT No 1 Eco-Ash. Fertilizer based on biomass combustion ash / 11 mln PLN; 4 mln PLN found Project goal: development of an innovative technology for the production of mineral fertilizers, based on the management of ash generated from the combustion of 100% biomass in the so-called. Green Power Unit/Blocks

Biomass in the power industry 2014: 36 installations dedicated to biomass burning in Poland Połaniec power plant: 1.050.000 tons wood biomass 270.000 tons agricultural biomass about 30.000 tons fly ash Total amount of undeveloped waste 150.000 tons (2014); now it is about 250.000 tons (2016)

PROJECT No 2 EkoRDF - an innovative manufacturing technology of alternative fuel from municipal waste for power and heating plants - a key component of the Polish waste management system

EkoRDF. Main point of project The main point of project is the effective management of 45% of municipal waste by preparing them for energetic use in power plants and heating system. Through the innovative use of additives resin and the effect of plasma is planned to produce a stable and safe fuel that is a remedy for the problems of the Polish waste management system. pre-RDF

Last but not least - comprehensive service Research and Development Center for Recycling and Recovery The aim of the project is to establish a Research and Development Center for Recycling and Recovery, which will carry out research and development work aimed at developing innovative products and processes in the form of pro-environmental product technologies for the management of all types of industrial waste: Waste from the incineration of municipal waste, Production of eco-mineral salts from the cement industry waste Product development of the waste from power plants Production of waste from the food and plastics industry. Ministry of Development found (2017)

Our projects are focused on waste management hierarchy avoid reduce reuse recycle recover dispose

The role of regional authorities Founds - the greatest role (European Regional Development Fund) Strategy – Regional Smart Specializations) Make good climte Creating synergies: rules and culture and habits
