Representative Training for Estimating Entrance Mats/Grids

Estimating Entrance Mats/Grids What to Look for In Division 124813 Spec & Plans Type Mat – FGLP, FMS, FMR, FM2S, FM2R Grid – FG 1-1/2, FGDP, SSMR Dimensions/area of mat/grid and # of locations Traffic direction Tread Insert Carpet SD or HD Abrasive Serrated – FG 1-1/2, FDGP only Recessed or surface mounted Depth of mat/grid Frame/No Frame – Cast in, blockout, Tapered, Pipe-Stem, Alum angle Hinges - Mats Vinyl Aluminum Finish Aluminum mill Aluminum anodized Stainless steel Square Vinyl filler strip for mats – color, 2 or 4 sides Loading requirements Special Cuts Special shapes have to be quoted by factory/need a sketch

Example - Specification for Entrance Mat A. Manufacturers: Subject to compliance with requirements, available manufacturers offering products that may be incorporated into the Work to include, but are not limited to, the following: B. Basis-of-Design Product: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide Pawling Corporation; Architectural Products Division; RG-250-RCV or a comparable product by one of the following: 1. Arden Architectural Specialties, Inc. 2. C/S Group. 3. Kadee Industries, Inc. Balco not spec’d but A allows us to bid C. Roll-up, Aluminum-Rail Hinged Mats: Extruded-aluminum tread rails 1-3/8 inches wide by 3/8 inch thick, sitting on continuous vinyl cushions. 1. Tread Inserts: Ribbed-design-surface, resilient vinyl. 2. Colors, Textures, and Patterns of Inserts: As selected by Architect from full range of industry colors. 3. Rail Color: As selected by Architect from full range of industry colors and color densities. 4. Hinges: Aluminum. 5. Mat Size: As indicated. D. Roll-up, Vinyl-Rail Hinged Mats: Vinyl-acrylic tread rails 1-3/8 inches wide by 3/8 inch thick, with slotted or perforated hinges. 1. Tread Inserts: Ribbed-design-surface, resilient vinyl. 2. Colors, Textures, and Patterns of Inserts: As selected by Architect from full range of industry colors. 3. Rail Color: As selected by Architect from full range of industry colors. 4. Hinges: Vinyl. 2.3 FRAMES A. Recessed Frames: Manufacturer's standard extrusion. Rail color: Quote anodized or mill finish? Conflicts: Bid C or D? No vinyl inserts. No equal to D: vinyl-acrylic treads. Need to add notes to quote. Should quote mill finish with an add for anodizing.

Example - Plan Pages for Entrance Mat Will typically see entrance mats on first floor drawings. Review these pages to determine the locations and sizes. Look at the finish floor plans, if available. Pages found in this example: A-100 FIRST FL PLAN A-101 FIRST FL PLAN E A-102 FIRST FL PLAN W

Example - Plan Page for Entrance Mat Quote Mat dimensions = 9’ 5-7/16” x 6’ 5-1/4” = 60.83 sf. Quote 61 sq ft.

Example – What Entrance Mat to Quote Hinges - Mats Vinyl Aluminum Finish Aluminum mill Aluminum anodized – no standard pricing available except for clear/medium bronze anodized Stainless steel Vinyl filler strip Loading requirements 300 lbs/sq ft. Special Cuts - No Dimensions/area of mat/grid and # of locations 9’ 5-7/16” x 6’ 5-1/4” = 61 sq ft Traffic direction 6’ 5-1/4” Tread Insert Carpet SD/HD - send color chart with quote Abrasive – send color chart with quote Serrated Recessed or surface mounted Depth of mat/grid 3/8” from RG-250-RCV Frame/No Frame - Cast in, blockout, Tapered, Pipe-Stem, Al angle Based on plans/spec quote bid as alternate = FM2R-C: RECESSED, ALUM. HINGE FLOOR MAT, CARPET, MILL FINISH. In notes section, put in an add for color anodized (must get through DSC). Send detail sheet with quote.

Representative Training for Estimating Stair Nosings

Estimating Stair Nosings What to Look for In Division 055500 Spec & Plans Type – Aluminum extrusions only New construction- single or two component Retrofit Standard or photoluminescent Ribbed or solid abrasive Abrasive Color – send color chart with quote Anchor type – Type 1, 3, 5-8 Finish Al mill Al anodized Special cuts – mitered ends Width & total # of stairs For single component nosings used as a retrofit, need to add line for SN Drilling. R-300, R- 315LP, R-315P, T-417, T-213, H- 225, H-338

Example - Spec Section for Stair Nosings 2.16 ABRASIVE STAIR NOSINGS A. Extruded Units: Aluminum, with abrasive filler consisting of aluminum oxide, silicon carbide, or a combination of both, in an epoxy-resin binder. Fabricate units in lengths necessary to accurately fit full clear width of stair treads and landings, without intermediate seams or splices, less 1/8-inch for construction tolerances. 1. Manufacturers: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide products by one of the following: a. ACL Industries, Inc. b. American Safety Tread Co., Inc. c. Amstep Products. d. Armstrong Products. e. Balco Inc. f. Granite State Casting Co. g. Wooster Products, Inc. h. Architect approved equivalent. 2. Provide ribbed units, with abrasive filler strips projecting 1/16 inch above aluminum extrusion. 3. Nosings: Beveled back units, 3 inches wide with 1-3/8 inch sloped lip for cast-in embedment in concrete- filled treads and landings of steel pan stairs. 4. Colors: For epoxy-resin binder at abrasive fillers, colors as selected by Architect from manufacturer’s standard offerings, provided that not less than 8 colors are made available as the standard offerings. B. Provide anchors for embedding units in concrete, either integral or applied to units, as standard by the manufacturer. C. Apply clear lacquer to concealed surfaces of extruded units. Conflict: Cast in place nosings aren’t beveled back

Example - Plan Pages for Stair Nosing Example Will typically see stair drawings in architectural plans. Review these pages to count the number of stairs and width. Pages found in this example: A5.001 ENL STAIR PLANS A5.002 ENL EXT STAIR PLANS AND SECTIONS A5.003 STAIR SECTIONS – no nosings for interior stairs

Example - Plan Pages for Stair Nosings Quote 13 steps @ 9’ each
