Board of Education, . . . Incredible new good news - resulting from the most recent round of state testing last Spring (the results are now public, not embargoed), ZPS is listed as having the 24th Best reading scores of all school districts in the state! (there are over 700 districts). We are Safe, Valued, Loved, and Learning for LIfe". The work done by so many teachers and support personnel to rebuild our reading curriculum, including ZEF funding sources, is paying off - the sky is the limit. Western Michigan University in collaboration with the Reading Now Network and the MAISA General Education Leadership Network (GELN) just received a three-year U.S. Department of Education grant award for $12.5 million to fund the High Impact Leadership for School Renewal (HIL) Project. The HIL Project goal is to develop high impact school leadership for school renewal with a focus on implementing the GELN Literacy Essentials in 75 RNN elementary schools, with potential for 75 more in years 4-5
