Agenda LINKS Overview School Nurse Module Q and A What is LINKS Accomplishments

Louisiana Immunization Network for Kids Statewide

LINKS Role Statewide, population based system Public / Private Sector Pertinent Data Demographics Immunization information Public Health EP Tool School Nurse/Headstart Reporting/Child Care Center Reporting One of the quickest ways to address the weaknesses in the public health infrastructure is to utilize existing systems. LINKS was a perfect fit for this because it is a population-based database. Therefore, it is already designed to handle large amounts of data and it can organize and process both demographic information and immunization information.

Provider Enrollment Over 3000 providers using LINKS, including: Public (parish health units, community health centers) Private (private physicians, hospitals) HMO School based health clinics Schools/Headstart Centers Military

School Nurse/Headstart Module Piloted in January 2005 Goals of module: Provide schools nurses and Headstart with access to registry to view immunization records Streamline annual reporting process by utilizing registry to collect data Allow school nurses and Headstart to add missing immunization data  enhance value of registry Simplify management of process by automating all reporting

Benefits of School Nurse Module More complete information available for schools and headstart facilities, immunization consultants and state to use for follow up Updated demographic and patient records collected in registry – enhances data in registry for all users Facilitates efficient process management for state reporting: Follow up Enforcement of deadlines Final aggregation of data Assists in further identification of pockets of need in state School nurses/Headstart Centers invest in LINKS value and advocate for other providers to enroll as users → recruitment

Benefits of School Nurse Module Registry offers legible, credible consolidated data to view  Universal Certificate, Vaccination Summary Registry tools help nurses to forecast for needed shots and follow up in a timely manner Streamlined data compilation process for annual reports Using LINKS, Schools/Headstart Centers save time used to track student immunization records Providers (private and public) save time copying records for school use
