Content Analysis of Children’s Programmes Section 1: Introduction. Here you explain what the research entails and why researching children’s programmes is particularly important and relevant

Content Analysis of Children’s Programmes Section 2: Methodology. Here you explain the three types of Content Analysis and which you have decided to use; Explain the whole research process you carry out in full detail including what decisions you made and WHY you made them.

Content Analysis of Children’s Programmes It seems obvious to most people that there are significant differences between males and females but within Sociology there is a wide ranging debate as to what these differences are and whether they are naturally created or socially constructed. Section 3: Context. Here you give a summary of that debate.

Content Analysis of Children’s Programmes Section 4: Content. Here you display your findings in the most appropriate form. Each set of findings is to be displayed separately, interpreted and evaluated

Title Here we can see that women as main characters make up the smallest group, making up only 20% of the total. Evaluation. It is clear that children’s TV programmes are biased in terms of there representation of gender.

Content Analysis of Children’s Programmes Section 5: Evaluation. Here you have to evaluate your overall findings, i.e. you don’t repeat the evaluations in the Content section but draw all the findings together to reach an overall conclusion. Next you evaluate the Methodology. How well did you carry out the research, how might you have improved your research, and how good a research tool is Content Analysis when used properly? How reliable therefore are your findings based on your evaluation of your group performance.

Content Analysis of Children’s Programmes Only research gender issues. Every person in the group has to analyse 10 children’s programmes aimed at young children that can be found on TV at the moment. Every member of the group has to be fully involved in each section as there will be a test on all aspects of the research at the end. There is a very tight time schedule for completing the research. Total time is only three weeks and although you will be able to use some lesson time you will not be able to use all of it. Throughout the course there is a pass threshold. If you do not achieve that mark the piece of work has to be redone within one week.
