“Stuff you should know…” PUSD is on a “Block” Schedule which means most of our classes don’t last all year you should earn 8 credits a year 4 credits each semester Extra – Curricular activities do not count as credit or show on your transcript. If you fail a course or need to earn additional credit you can; attend summer school, take online classes, complete community service (most cost $$)

“Stuff you should know…” Online Classes eCampus is Peoria School District’s online school. This can only be taken when enrolled in a PUSD school or during the summer time. These credits are accepted just like regular classes! Other state accredited schools are available but there is policy on how PUSD accepts credits from those schools. If you take a core class from an outside online school – you must pass PUSD’s proficiency exam in order to receive core credit for the class. You must be enrolled at a PUSD school in the core classes that you need to graduate.

What is a Transcript? A transcript is a record of your coursework, including final grades each semester you are in High School, including summer school. It includes all your test scores Grade Point Average – each term and a cumulative GPA Class Rank – calculated after each semester in high school

Class Rank Rank is re-calculated 3 times each year, comparing Your class rank is impacted by 3 things: 1. Grades reflected in your GPA 2. Number of honors courses completed 3. Total number of credits earned since the beginning of your freshman year (Release Time may negatively affect your class rank) Rank is re-calculated 3 times each year, comparing you with everyone else in your graduating class. It is done in January, June, & September.

Arizona University Admissions The three state universities in Arizona are Arizona State University in Tempe, University of Arizona in Tucson and Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. The best way to assure admission to AZ universities is to meet at least one of these minimum requirements: 1. Rank in the top 25% of the graduating class, or 2. have earned a core GPA of 3.0, or 3. score a 1040 on the SAT or a 22 on the ACT. Each university has merit scholarships to help pay tuition and other expenses. See university websites for details.

Community College Admissions A student who earned his/her diploma is eligible for admission to a community college. A community college is a 2-year college designed to enable students to either transfer to a university or receive vocational training. A student may earn the Presidential Scholarship for the Maricopa Community Colleges. See the MCCD website for updated requirements.

Military Enlistment Military enlistment now prefers a high school diploma. Military requirements have become more competitive – see recruiters that visit our campus regularly. ASVAB test is the military aptitude test required prior to enlistment.

Vocational/Technical Training Vocational/Technical Schools and Apprenticeships are available for a variety of career options. These can vary in length and cost. Research program requirements, expectations, and job placement assistance. Examples of careers for these types of schools: Cosmetology, Welding, Construction, Medical Technician, Auto Repair, EMT
