CONVENTIONAL FACILITIES presented by Peter H. Garbincius ACCELERATOR DESIGN & INTEGRATION MEETING CONVENTIONAL FACILITIES AND SITING GROUP Preparation for BAW-2 V. Kuchler presented by Peter H. Garbincius

Overview The CFS Group has Worked Directly with Main Linac, Damping Ring, KCS, DRFS and Peter G to Develop and Understand the Electrical Power and Heat Load Requirements for the Options Being Considered Full Power, 5 Hz KCS and DRFS Low Power, 5 Hz KCS and DRFS Low Power, 10 Hz KCS and DRFS Damping Ring tunnel will be 3.2 km in Circumference and sized for 3 rings CFS will Pursue Preparation for BAW-2 Based on the Following Assumptions: The e- & e+ Main Linacs and the Damping Ring will be Affected by the Low Power Option and Current Criteria will be Used The e- Main Linac and Damping Rings will be Affected by the 10 Hz Option and Current Criteria will be Used. e- Source will require additional power & cooling The e- and e+ Sources, RTML and BDS will Use the Same Criteria as the RDR Damping Ring Tunnel Will be Sized for Three Rings The Reference Baseline for Cost Analysis will be the SB2009 Costing Exercise which is Based on Full Power, 5Hz The Three Major CFS Cost Drivers will be Evaluated for Cost Adjustments - Civil Construction, Mechanical Systems and Electrical Systems

Main Linac Criteria Klystron Cluster Criteria DRFS Criteria Full Power, 5 Hz and Low Power, 5 Hz Criteria Primarily Developed by C. Nantista Low Power, 10 Hz Criteria Is Based on Discussions with Peter G who guesses this increases the e- Main Linac RF Power Requirement by 40% with respect to Low Power, 5 Hz. All Other Criteria are Taken to Remain the Same as for Low Power, 5 Hz Operation For Low Power, 5 Hz Option, the Biggest Civil Construction Reduction will be in the Size of the Klystron Cluster Surface Buildings For Low Power, 10 Hz Option, the Size of the Klystron Cluster Surface Buildings will Remain the Same as for Low Power, 5 Hz Mechanical and Electrical Systems for 5 Hz and 10 Hz Options will be Reviewed Based on Adjusted Cooling and Electrical Power Requirements DRFS Criteria Full Power, 5 Hz and Low Power, 5 Hz Criteria Primarily Developed by S. Fukuda Currently CFS has no Criteria for Low Power, 10 Hz DRFS Option

Criteria for Total Power Requirements RDR, KCS and DRFS Criteria for Main Linac Power Requirements RDR, KCS and DRFS

Damping Ring Criteria Criteria Full Power, 5 Hz and Low Power, 10 Hz Criteria Primarily Developed by S. Giuducci and P. Garbincius Low Power, 5 Hz Criteria Primarily Developed by S. Giuducci All Options will be Based on a 3.2 km Circumference Tunnel with a Diameter that can Ultimately Accommodate Three Damping Rings ~7.5 m Diameter The Reference Baseline for Cost Analysis will be the SB2009 Costing Exercise, Updated to Reflect Current Tunnel Diameter, Cooling and Electrical Loads for Full Power, 5 Hz

Criteria for Damping Ring - First Three Options Only to be Considered at this Time

Summary The Criteria Presented Represents the Most Current Data Available to the CFS Group Assumptions Presented are Open to Discussion, but have not been Developed by the CFS Group in Isolation Unless Otherwise Directed, This will be the Basis of the Cost Evaluation Exercise that will be Completed Prior to the BAW-2 Meeting
