1 LCWS11 AWG9 PARALLEL SESSION SUMMARY
CONVENTIONAL FACILITIES AND SITING V. Kuchler, J. Osborne, A. Enomoto

2 Parallel Sessions - September 27 am
Joint Session - Sources, DR, RTML and BDS Several Talks were Presented from Area Systems and CFS Reviewed Status of Lattice Development for the Central Region A Draft Lattice for the Central Region will be Available for the Baseline Technical Review at DESY in Late October, 2011 Final Central Region Lattices are Expected to be Completed by the End of 2011 Naming Conventions for the Technical Components will be Mapped to the Naming Conventions for the Conventional Facility Enclosures CFS will Work with B. List to Identify “Treaty Points” Between Adjacent Ares Systems and Incorporate Machine Coordinate Information into CFS Drawings Current CFS Drawings and Mechanical/Electrical Criteria and Designs were Also Presented by L Hammond and R Wielgos A Few Remaining Discrepancies were Identified and will be Corrected in the CFS Information Prior to the Baseline Technical Review

4 Parallel Sessions - September 27 pm
Stability Issues for Push/Pull Detector Movement Movement Induced into the Damping Ring from Detector Push/Pull Operations was the Main Point of Discussion Range of Allowable Movements for Damping Ring and Detectors are Available and will be Reviewed in the Coming Months European Region has Contracted ARUP-UK to Analyze the CLIC Design for the Interaction Region at CERN These Studies Include a Rock Model Analysis of the CERN Molasse Geology and Detector Platform Design for CLIC and ILC Americas Region will also Use ARUP-UK to Analyze the ILC Design for the Interaction Region at the Americas Sample Site that will Include a Study of the Push/Pull Detector Influence on the Damping Ring Enclosure

5 Draft Examples of ARUP Analysis

6 Parallel Sessions - September 27 pm
CFS Cost Discussion G Dugan Provided Information Regarding Guidelines for the Development of the Cost Estimate for TDR Cost will be Based on 500 Gev Machine CFS Cost Estimating Process will Use Formatted Excel Workbooks for Upload of Data into Overall ICET Project Cost Estimate “Basis of Estimate” will be Required for all Cost Entries and Eventually Entered into the EDMS System

7 Parallel Sessions - September 28 am
ILC/CLIC Critical Issues Overview of CLIC/ILC Draft Critical Issues Matrix was Provided by J Osborne General Discussion Provided Critique and Suggestions A Final Version of the Matrix was Completed During This Session

8 Parallel Sessions - September 28 am cont.
Joint Session with MDI/Detectors T Lackowski - Overview of Central Region Development J Osborne - Status of ARUP Consulting Y Sugimoto – Update on Japanese Mountain Site K Riles – R&D Update for SiD Final Focus Magnet Alignment Several Different IR Layouts are Under Consideration Regional/Local Conditions will have an Impact on IR Hall Design Americas Region IR Japanese Mountain Site IR SiD IR CLIC IR

9 Parallel Sessions - September 28 am cont.
Joint Session with MDI/Detectors Discussion Focused on Alternative IR Layout Proposed by M Oriunno Dimensions Still Need Verification by ILD “Z” Shape for IR Hall is the Consensus Shape for European and Americas Region Shaft Number, Arrangement and Locations are Still Under Consideration Overall IR Design Still Needs Review With Respect To: Detector Assembly Methods Crane Coverage Use of Platforms Detector Maintenance SiD IR

10 Parallel Sessions - September 28 pm
TDR Preparation Primarily a CFS Working Session M Ross Joined the CFS Discussion A Draft Outline for the TDR was Developed and Provided to the Project Management Group

11 Parallel Sessions - September 28 pm cont.
Joint Session with HLRF Klystron Cluster and Distributed RF System Criteria were Presented and Discussed in Detail Alternatives for Main Linac Shaft Locations were Also Discussed with Cyrogenic Input from T Peterson Discussion Determined that the CFS Group Now has All Necessary Information to Proceed with Mechanical and Electrical TDR Design for Both Proposed RF Systems Discussion Also Determined that Alternatives Being Considered for Cryomodule Cavity Configuration will have Only a Minor Impact on CFS Costs and Design

12 Parallel Sessions - September 29 am
Siting Studies - Asian Region Current Progress for Asian Region Mountain Design was Presented by A Enomoto Presentation Included a Consultant Study Comparing Various Tunnel Configuration Alternatives Compatible with a Mountain Site Siting Studies – European Region J Osborne Provided an Overview of Siting Work for a Linear Collider on the CERN Site Also Included was Information Gained from the Initial Investigation of Requirements Regarding Environmental Impact Assessments in Europe M Gastal Provided an Update of Scheduling Efforts at CERN for Both the CLIC and ILC Projects A Dudarev Presented an Update of Moscow University Support that has been Provided to the LC Effort at the JINR Laboratory

13 Parallel Sessions - September 28 pm
EDMS Documentation Primarily a CFS Working Session with B List Providing a Short Status of the EDMS System A Proposed CFS Folder Hierarchy was Discussed and Adopted A Short Review of CFS Document Types and Regional Document Lists was Also Completed The CFS Group will Work With B List to Begin to Upload CFS Documents Americas Region Mechanical and Electrical Design Development E Huedem Provided a Detailed Update of the Consultant Work to Date for the ILC Mechanical System Design for Both the KCS and DRFS Systems R Wielgos Provided a Detailed Update of the Consultant Work to Date for the ILC Electrical System Design for Both the KCS and DRFS Systems
