Ask a Question Scientific Method How, What, When, Who, Which, Why, or Where? Our Research Question: Since none of our plants turned purple does that mean our seeds are homozygous dominant? To this date, no purple stems are found in either of our four plants.

Background Research Brassica Rapa is a plant with a wide variety of various subspecies including the turnip; the mizuna, napa cabbage, bok choy, and cime di rapa.

Constructing a Hypothesis A hypothesis is an educated guess about how things work If none of the plants are purple than that means the seeds were homozygous dominant

Experimental Design After our plants grow more to form flowers, we will cross pollinate our plants to form new ones to see if our hypothesis is correct Since we think all of our plants are homozygous dominant, the new plants must be without purple to prove our hypothesis to be correct Observe the plant and measure the height of the plant. Once the leaves come we will cross pollinate with a paint brush since we don’t have bees. Wait for seeds to come. Then we germinate the seeds and see what color the leaves are.

Research Conclusions Our plants grew and formed flowers but died before we were able to test our hypothesis. We weren’t able to cross pollinate and see if our predictions were correct. Our experiment existed of making a lot of observations on the Brassica Rapa plant. We observed how it grew, what grew on the plant, and what the growing plant looked like overtime.
