PLANT PROJECT By: Capriana B. Brianna B. and Allana J.

Research Question How can the dominant trait be insured in the seconds generation?

Research Prediction If parent plants exhibit the dominant yellow/green trait, their offspring will exhibit the dominant yellow/ green stem trait.

Materials ◦ 3 millimeters eye dropper (to water plants) ◦ Baggie and paper towel (to use for germinating the seeds in a germination chamber) ◦ water ◦ light ◦ soil ◦ seeds

Experimental Design ◦ Step 1: Plant seeds ◦ Step 2: When seed germinate - identify stem color as either dominant yellow color as either dominant yellow green or recessive purple ◦ Step 3: remove the stem exhibit dom. ◦ Step 4: Allow yellow/ green dominant trait plant to flower ◦ Step 5: Pollinate plants with small paint brush ◦ Step 6: Allow plants to go to seed ◦ Step 7: Remove seeds from seed pods ◦ Step 8: Germinate seeds in germination chamber ◦ Step 9: Identify stem color of germinated seeds

What we learned We learned how the plants grew. They start off as seeds, with some water and sunlight, then they start to earn their first leaves. The first leaves aren't their official leaves and every plant has that part, those leaves changes slowly into their natural leaves. We also learned about the heterozygous and homozygous traits and there is also a dominant and recessive trait. You can make a chart to determine what the next set of the same plants will be.
