Providing A Quality High School Education GJUHSD is committed to ensuring that all students graduate prepared for success in college, careers, and civic life District priorities for students as they transition from high school to life in the world of work: Completion of A-G college course work Completion of at least one career technical education pathway The District’s high schools: Galt High (1951) Liberty Ranch High (2007) Serve approximately 2,200 students from four feeder elementary districts (Arcohe, Galt, New Hope, and Oak View)

School Facilities Needs Assessment Classrooms and facilities require essential repairs and updates to ensure our high schools provide a safe, modern learning environment Galt High School has oldest classrooms/facilities (65 years old) Liberty Ranch has facilities that need to be completed District has undertaken a thorough Facilities Master Planning process Site-by-site evaluations of classrooms, buildings, and grounds Incorporates input from a variety of community stakeholders: Teachers and staff Parents Students Community members $47.18 million worth of needs district-wide have been identified

School Facilities Needs Old HVAC systems need to be replaced with energy efficient models Deteriorating walls and floors need replacing

School Facilities Needs Outdated electrical systems do not meet today’s technological needs Temporary portables should be replaced with permanent classrooms Leaky roofs and damaged ceilings must be repaired Temporary portables should be replaced with permanent classrooms

School Facilities Needs Student safety should be improved, including upgrading fire alarm and security systems and removing asbestos tile Athletic fields and facilities need to be updated for safety Temporary portables should be replaced with permanent classrooms

Addressing Facilities Needs Total cost of repairs and modernizations is beyond the scope of the District’s operating budget No other adequate funding options exist State does not provide funding for facility improvements Measure B (2005 Bond Measure) funds have been completely spent to build Liberty Ranch High School Projects remain at Liberty Ranch because developer funding that was counted on to complete the high school came up short due to the recession and housing crisis Local bond measure is the only option that would generate sufficient funding to address the most urgent needs outlined in the Facilities Master Plan

Local School Bond Measure: Measure E Board voted to place Measure E on the November 8, 2016 ballot Measure E will generate $36 million in local funding Cost would be limited to no more than $30 per $100,000 in assessed (not market) value annually Approximately $6 per month for the average homeowner Fiscal accountability is included An independent Citizens’ Oversight Committee and annual audits All funds stay local and cannot be taken away by the State Funds cannot be used for administrator or employee salaries, benefits, or pensions

Local School Bond Measure: Measure E Measure E will allow our District to ensure both high schools provide a safe, modern learning environment for students Potential projects include: Updating classrooms and facilities for safety and accessibility compliance Providing updated career technical education classrooms for job training Updating classroom wiring and infrastructure to support instructional technology Modernizing outdated classrooms, restrooms, and school facilities Improving athletic facilities and fields
