Logical Fallacies

Bandwagon Simply explained, a bandwagon fallacy is committed when an argument bases it's credibility on the fact that it an idea or practice is becoming popular.

Red Herring A Red Herring is a fallacy in which an irrelevant topic is presented in order to divert attention from the original issue. The basic idea is to "win" an argument by leading attention away from the argument and to another topic. http://youtu.be/jlm0PQGrBzA

Ad Hominem An Ad Hominem is a general category of fallacies in which a claim or argument is rejected on the basis of some irrelevant fact about the author of or the person presenting the claim or argument. http://youtu.be/ebT1Oo6yDMI

Hasty Generalizations Drawing conclusions after too few examples. http://youtu.be/e4Ts4TtEwDc

Card Stacking Effort is made to only present one side of a product or idea and hide or ignore any opposing facts or statements.

Group Work Your group will take your assigned logical fallacy and find an example in the first two acts of the play. Your group will also find another example of your assigned fallacy outside of the text. Might find in a printed ad, a commercial, a political speech/debate, etc. Your group will present your findings to the rest of the class.
