What is Conflict Conflict is a literary element that involves a struggle between two opposing forces. Internal Conflicts Occurs when a character experiences conflicting or opposing emotions or desires. Good vs. evil inside the character The character’s struggle between emotions causes stress and mental agony This creates tension in the story External conflict Character struggles with outside forces or issues, which impact his progress.
